Lecturer1 Profile

Xu Jianhua, professor of the College of Geographical Sciences, East China Normal University, graduated from Lanzhou University with a Bachelor's degree in 1986 and received a Master of Science degree in Physical Geography from Lanzhou University in 1988, and was assigned to the Department of Geographical Sciences of Lanzhou University in January 1989.In February 2000, he was introduced to East China Normal University as an academic leader and appointed as a professor and supervisor of doctoral students (Cartography and GIS).

He is mainly engaged in teaching and scientific research in geographic modelling, geographic computing and GIS application. He has presided over and completed more than 30 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Foundation of China and provincial (ministerial) level projects. He has published 16 monographs (textbooks), among which, Geography of Measurement has been selected as one of the national planning textbooks of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" and "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", and Mathematical Methods in Modern Geography (2nd Edition)has been recommended by the Graduate Work Office of the Ministry of Education as a teaching book for graduate students. He has published more than 100 papers as the first author or corresponding author, among which, more than 70 are indexed by SCI. The results have been cited more than 21,000 times by domestic and international publications, among which, more than 1,600 times by SCI. The course Econometric Geography, which he was responsible for and lectured, was selected as a Shanghai Excellent Course in 2008. The course was selected as one of the national quality courses in 2009, the national quality resource sharing courses in 2014, the national quality online open courses in 2017, and the national first-class undergraduate courses in 2020.

He has served as a director of the National Society of Economic Geography, a director of the Chinese Association of Regional Science, a deputy director of the Quantitative Geography Committee of the Chinese Geographical Society, a member of the Human Geography Committee of the Chinese Geographical Society, and a member of the Urban Geography Committee of the Chinese Geographical Society; he has served as an editorial board member of Chinese DesertRegional Research and DevelopmentHuman GeographyEcological ScienceArid Zone Geography, Chinese Geographical ScienceJournal of Signal and Information ProcessingPeerJSignal Processing Research.

Lecturer2 Profile

Shi Lei, PhD in Engineering, is a distinguished professor of Nanchang University, director of the Institute of Watershed Carbon Neutral Research at Nanchang University, director of the Industrial Ecology Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Ecology, and associate editor of Journal of Cleaner Production. He was co-editor-in-chief and director of the Asian office of Journal of Industrial Ecology, and chairman of the 10th International Congress of Industrial Ecology (2019).

He is mainly engaged in industrial ecology research, and his main interests include industrial ecosystem complexity, watershed carbon neutrality and eco-innovation. He has presided over dozens of eco-industrial park plans, circular economy plans and industrial development plans, and has compiled many national standards such as Guidelines for Material Flow Analysis Techniques in Industrial ParksGuidelines for Diagnosis of Circular Industrial Chains in Industrial ParksGuidelines for Optimization of Circular Industrial Chains in Industrial ParksandGuidelines for Comprehensive Evaluation of Chemical Parks. He has published more than 100 articles, and many of his scientific achievements have been published in journals such as Natural Climate ChangeProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and Energy & Environmental Sciences. He was invited as Lead Author to contribute to the chapter on "Resource Efficiency" in Global Environment Outlook - 6.
