On November 11 and 18, 2019, Ding Yongjian, a professor from State Key Laboratory of Cryosphere Science, Northwest Institute of Eco-Environmental Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a lecture on "Introduction to Cryosphere Science" to undergraduate students of the College of Earth and Environment of Lanzhou University.

Professor Ding Yongjian gave a comprehensive and detailed explanation on the interaction between the cryosphere and other geospheres to the undergraduate, including the cryosphere and climate system, surface system, ecosystem, hydrological system, and social system. Meanwhile, combining with the latest scientific research progress, he systematically introduces the mutual feeding mechanism between atmosphere and cryosphere, bio-cryosphere interaction, continental surface processes and cold zone disasters, as well as the impact of cryosphere on human beings and the ways of adaptation.
