Professor Huang Wei won the “2019 Youth Scientific and Technological Progress Award from Geographical Society of China”

On the morning of November 2, in the “110th Anniversary of the Geographical Society of China & China Conference on Geography 2019" held at China National Convention Center, the Geographical Society of China awarded the “2019 Youth Scientific and Technological Progress Award”, and Professor Huang Wei from the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences of Lanzhou University won the award, as the only scholar in northwestern China.

Professor Huang Wei is a young teacher of the Department of Physical Geography, Lanzhou University, and one of the main academic backbones of the National Key Discipline. In recent years, he has made outstanding achievements in the research of climate and environmental change. At present, he has published more than 40 articles in important academic journals such as Journal of Climate,Quaternary Science Reviews,Earth-Science Reviews, and China Science, which have had a great influence in related research fields at home and abroad. He is currently a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the Central Asian Atmospheric Science Research Center of the China Meteorological Administration and a youth editor of theScience Bulletin.

The award was established to recognize young geographers who have made outstanding contributions to national scientific and technological innovation, economic development and social progress to promote the growth of geotechnical talents. Candidates for this award are required to be under the age of 40 and will be selected every two years, with no more than 10 awards per session. Huang is the fifth young teacher of the environmental change research team of Lanzhou University who won the award.
