Du Linyang is a Ph.D. candidate (Class of 2021) in Environmental Archaeology, specializing in Physical Geography at the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University. His primary research focuses on the historical development of ancient pastoralism in northwest China and cross-regional interactions on the prehistoric Eurasian continent. He has published four research articles as the first or corresponding author and co-authored a total of eleven publications. He has also served as a reviewer for the Journal of Archaeological Science, a prominent international archaeology journal. From September to December 2023, he conducted a research exchange at the British Museum in the United Kingdom.
Qiu Menghan is a Direct doctoral graduate in Physical Geography (2024 cohort) from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lanzhou University, specializing in Environmental Archaeology.His research interests include the social livelihoods of ancient populations in the Xinjiang region and their interactions with the environment. He participated in research projects such as the Second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition, the 973 Program, and the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. To date, he has published over 20 papers in SCI/SSCI and key Chinese journals, including Science Advances, Science Bulletin, Quaternary Science Reviews, Journal of Archaeological Science, and Acta Geographica Sinica, with one article as the first author in Science Advances. His awards include recognition as a second contributor in the "Top Ten Research Advances in Chinese Geographical Science" by the Geographical Society of China in 2023, the 2024 Gansu Province Outstanding Graduate Award, the 2023 Graduate Innovation Award from the Key Laboratory of Western China’ s Environmental Systems (Ministry of Education), and the National Graduate Scholarship in 2018. His doctoral dissertation has been recommended for excellence." Passionate about photography, he is a contract photographer for Panorama Images, a contributing photographer for Planet Institute, and a member of the CSVA. He has also served as a photographer on multiple field expeditions for the Second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and has overseen artifact photography for several archaeological monographs, with his work frequently featured on publication covers. From September to December 2023, he undertook an academic exchange at the British Museum's Department of Asia in London.
