Expert Profile:

Xiong Youcai, male, born in Wuhan, Hubei, holds a doctorate in Ecology, is a Second-level Professor, and a doctoral supervisor. He is the Director of the Gansu Province Dryland Agricultural Equipment Industry Technology Center and the Director of the Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center for Dryland Agriculture and Ecological Restoration. He holds a second-tier position as a Cuiying Scholar at Lanzhou University. His main research areas are agricultural ecology and sustainability science, and he is the leader of the Agricultural Ecology and Sustainability Science Innovation Team at Lanzhou University. Xiong was selected for the National "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" for Scientific and Technological Innovation Leading Talents, the Ministry of Science and Technology Young and Middle-aged Scientific and Technological Innovation Leading Talents, the Ministry of Education New Century Excellent Talents, and the first tier of Gansu Province Leading Talents. He has served as a member of the second, third, and fourth Graduate Teaching Supervision Groups at Lanzhou University and was awarded the "Scientific Chinese Person of the Year" (Agriculture Group). Since 2011, he has led his team to the Horn of Africa to carry out cooperative projects on dryland water-saving agricultural technology, demonstration, and promotion, achieving significant production, ecological, and social impacts. As the chief editor, he has published six monographs, including "Biology of Lathyrus sativus" and "Agricultural Techniques in Arid Regions under Climate Change." He also serves as the President of the Belt and Road University Alliance Ecological Sub-Alliance, a member of the National Expert Group on Agricultural Non-Point Source Pollution Control and Supervision, and an editorial board member of "Crop Science" and "Acta Ecologica Sinica."

Lecture Introduction:

In this lecture, Professor Xiong will share his experiences and insights gained from conducting research in Africa.
