Academic Presentation of Chen Dianbao and Gao Peng on June 1

At the invitation of the Key Laboratory of Western China’s Environmental Systems (Ministry of Education), Dr. Chen Dianbao and Dr. Gao Peng from the College of Earth and Environment Science, Lanzhou University will come to our school for academic exchange on June 1. All teachers and students are welcome to attend.

Title: Late Cenozoic sedimentary evolution, development of Heihe River, and uplift and expansion of the middle Qilian Mountains in Jiudong Basin, Hexi Corridor

Lecturer profile:

Chen Dianbao, Ph.D. in Quaternary Geology, postdoctoral fellow, member of the Chinese Geographical Society and IAS (International Association of Sedimentologists). He is mainly engaged in sedimentary and geomorphological evolution research, focusing on the sedimentary evolution of the Hexi Corridor Basin and the uplift and expansion process of the Qilian Mountains, as well as the rupture and diversion process of the lower Yellow River. The doctoral dissertation was rated as the outstanding doctoral dissertation of Lanzhou University and Gansu Province in 2019. Currently presided over a postdoctoral science fund general project, a National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Fund project, and a special project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Yellow River Major Project. In recent years, he has published 12 papers in mainstream geoscience journals at home and abroad, such as Geological Society of America Bulletin, Quaternary Science Reviews, Quaternary Research, Terra Nova, and Quaternary Research. Reviewer for journals such as Sedimentology.

Lecturer profile:

Gao Peng, Ph.D. in Quaternary Geology, member of China Quaternary Science Society. He is mainly engaged in magnetostratigraphic and paleoclimate change research, focusing on the identification of polar sub-time and geomagnetic drift events, as well as tectonic and orbital time-scale climate change. He has won the Compass Outstanding Student Paper Award of the Paleomagnetism Professional Committee of the Chinese Geological Society and presided over one free exploration project of the "Special Fund for Fundamental Research Funds of Central Universities" of Lanzhou University. He is the first author in Geophysical Research Letters and Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth Published 3 papers.
