Han Xibin, PhD, master supervisor, associate professor at the Second Institute of Oceanography (Ministry of Natural Resources). He received his bachelor’s degree from the Guilin University of Technology in 2000, his master’s degree in Mineral and Census Exploration from the Guilin University of Technology in 2003, and his doctoral degree in Marine Geology from the Ocean University of China in 2006. He was a post-doctoral researcher at Pusan National University in Korea, from 2006 to 2007 and at the Second Institute of Oceanography, National Oceanic Administration, from 2007 to 2009. He is currently a part-time master's supervisor at Shandong University of Science and Technology, Hebei University of Geosciences, and the Chengdu University of Technology.
He is mainly engaged in the investigation and research of marine sedimentary processes and sedimentary environment evolution, and his research objects are related to the submarine canyon system, modern sedimentary processes, sedimentary environment evolution, paleomarine, paleoclimate, palaeoenvironment, and polar environment evolution. He has been responsible for 1 National Natural Science Foundation of China, 8 special projects on comprehensive investigation and assessment of the North and South Pole environment, 3 projects on the operationalization and research of polar research, 2 projects on global change and sea-air interaction, 1 project of the State Oceanic Administration Youth Fund, 1 project of the “Deep Blue Project” of Shanghai Jiaotong University, and 2 projects of the Key Laboratory Open Fund, 1 special fund project for basic scientific research business expenses of central public welfare research institutes, and 2 special fund projects for basic scientific research business expenses of the Second Institute of Oceanography of the State Oceanic Administration. In addition, he has participated in IODP361, 973 Project, 908 Project, Global Change and Sea-Air Interaction Project, National Natural Science Foundation of China Key Projects, Ocean Science Expedition, Marine Public Welfare Project, Yangtze River Estuary-East China Sea Multidisciplinary Long-term Observation Program (LORCE) and other projects as the main backbone. He has published more than 40 research papers (including 11 SCI and EI papers) in academic journals at home and abroad, published one monograph, participated in writing two monographs, obtained one invention patent and one software copyright, participated in two Chinese Antarctic scientific expeditions, four Chinese oceanic scientific expeditions, and participated in marine special investigations for many times.
